Weekly Note for Week Ending 5/30/25
This week has been a lot. In particular, I have been trying to get back to the gym on a more regular basis. The previous weeks, I'd been ducking out of going at even the slightest hint of resistance on my part. I'm very good at talking myself into and out of doing things depending on my mood and motivation.
At any rate, without further ado, here are the things that caught my attention this week.
There's an app that I spotted (thanks to @Hiro for sharing) called Sortd. This little amazing beauty is fresh out of beta, and is the answer for all those Reels, TikTok videos, and webpages that have recipes, locations, workout routines, etc baked into them. Did you ever wish you could extract that info easily? Well, with Sortd, you can.
- It's mostly euro-centric at the moment so us U.S.-based folk with need to just be a bit patient with some lag. I haven't really had any major issues there, tbh.
I've had a couple of friends introduce me to Finch in the past, and this week, I finally caved and signed up. The app is sort of reminiscent of Tamagotchi in that you get a little creature, typically a bird, and you spend time caring for yourself and it. It levels up the more you accomplish your goals, and you can pet it, and introduce it to your friends, etc.
- What I like about the app is it does make me want to accomplish my little self-care goals each day, and even if I just literally survived the day, it encourages me to keep going.
- Use my link and get Talon the Gryphon as your micro pet to go along with yours!
In the latest, what-game-am-I-playing-now news, I've been having some fun with a rather chill game called FarmRPG. There's an app for both iOS and Android, and you can use the web as well. I find the web better for some things (chat, etc) and worse for others (fishing, etc). You run your own little farm which you can eventually augment with a pond for fishing, a vineyard for growing grapes for wine, an orchard for fruit (fruit gives you solid benefits in this game), and your goal is to grow your farming empire.
- There's a fantastic community in this game, so help is very close at hand. There is solid documentation and players guides galore! Jump in and have fun!
We started binging "Paradise" on Hulu, and OMG is this show good! There's a lot that's going on, the characters are pretty well fleshed out, and the story is well written!
Confession of the Week: I very much like to dip my chicken tenders in mayo. That's self care right there.
Shoutout of the Week: I'm shouting out @Amerpie because his blog posts mix the fun adventure in life with real, heart-felt life stuff, and I thoroughly enjoy reading his content. Check out more of his work at louplummer.lol, amerpie.lol, and appaddict.app
