Bear Blog Question Challenge

I discovered this Bear Blog Question Challenge thanks to Ava's post and blog. She's super interesting, and I enjoyed spelunking through her content. She points out Kev Quirk adopted this challenge for non-Bear Blog users, so check that out if you're feeling inclined.

Here are the questions:

  1. Why did you make the blog in the first place?
  2. Why did you choose Bearblog?
  3. Have you blogged on other platforms before?
  4. Do you write your posts directly in the editor or in another software?
  5. When do you feel most inspired to write?
  6. Do you publish immediately after writing or do you let it simmer a bit as a draft?
  7. Your favorite post on your blog?
  8. Any future plans for your blog? Maybe a redesign, changing the tag system, etc.?

1. Why did you make the blog in the first place?

I have a constant, nagging need to write...something. Anything. I've had micro.blog, Blogger back in the day, and Tumblr, but never really stuck with them for very long. Micro.blog might be the longest. I just wanted a way to express myself, and I was also very inspired by a weekly notes style post on a friend's blog.

2. Why did you choose Bearblog?

Initially as a result of the fact that my friend used it for her weekly notes. Also it was free. Then I felt good about paying for it.

3. Have you blogged on other platforms before?

Yep, as mentioned, Tumblr, Blogger, and other custom-domain hosted websites.

4. Do you write your posts directly in the editor or in another software?

I use Drafts to write the posts for Bear blog because I want to be able to quickly create the Markdown formatting as I go. I hate going back and trying to format everything later, and Markdown links aren't the easiest to quickly type out, but Drafts fixes that.

5. When do you feel most inspired to write?

I'm almost always inspired to write. The problem is what to write about. My head tends to swirl with possibilities, but then I get distracted looking into one or two, and I end up down a rabbit hole. This style of weekly notes or observations or "things that have caught my attention" really does help me focus...a bit.

6. Do you publish immediately after writing or do you let it simmer a bit as a draft?

No, I work the items up throughout the week (another reason to use Drafts...easy access), and then try and publish on Fridays. Unless I get distracted.

7. Your favorite post on your blog?

I love all my children equally. Given that these posts, anyway, are mostly the same, I don't really have a favorite.

8. Any future plans for your blog? Maybe a redesign, changing the tag system, etc.?

I'm always tinkering with the look of the pages from week to week. This latest one probably will last the longest. I do want to add more Pages to mine. I'm just not sure what I want to put there.
