Weekly Note for Week Ending 5/16/25
This week flew by in such a quick fashion that I totally forgot to publish this note. So here it is...on the 20th. Listen, I was on vacation mode. Enjoy this week's finds and observations!
My podcast wrapped up season four! We are on a short break, and will be back for season five in no time at all.
I spent two days in
HellDisney where the temperatures were in the high 90s and the humidity had to be at least that. Disney itself is not Hell, mind you. I just really hate the heat, so it was rough, but we still managed to have fun. We won't be going back until at least October which will hopefully allow for things to cool down by then. The car decided we had too much money in our accounts (it's wrong, as always, about that), so it is now charging us $2500 for the pleasure of continuing to drive it. I'm pretty sure this kind of extortion is illegal. Adulting is great! 🫠
On the up side, the dealership gave us a Mazda CX-50 to use while ours is being serviced, and it's the car that we were considering getting in the future, so we got an extended test drive. It's a pretty decent vehicle, all things considered. I'd like the cup holders in a different location, and the center console is a bit intrusive on both sides, but it's a comfortable ride.
For Mother's Day, my sister and I got her a gift called Storyworth which asks her a question every week for 52 weeks and compiles the answers into a printed book that's then given to the family as a keepsake. They even offer the option where the recipient can call in and leave their answer in a voicemail to be transcribed into the book!
- My husband looked a little skeptical and said, "So you gave your mother homework for Mother's Day?" He might be right.
We had a new A/C system installed at the house. This is a necessity here as it gets so flipping hot during the summer that, upon walking outside, it's a bit like being smacked directly in the face with a wet, hot meatloaf. Don't ask how I know this. Just trust me. I wouldn't lie to you.
It turns out there was a killer crab that escaped from prison...oh, wait. Check that. A killer crab-walked out of prison. Got it. Double-check your spelling and grammar, kiddos.
Confession of the Week: I love to eat red velvet cake, but I'm freaked out by red velvet cookies. I don't know why.
Shoutout of the Week: Arc Search is still my go-to browser for search requests. It's a bit like Perplexity, which is also nice, but it has a much nicer visual look to it.
