Change and Pattern Upheaval

It’s been a transition week—or weeks—depending on your point of view. I’ve closed the book on a 12-year story with a company that brought me an amazing amount of joy, safety, and comfort over the years. I’ve left it for the excitement of something new, because sometimes what one needs most is change. That’s definitely what I needed. This new journey is starting out well, and I’m thankful for that!

Change is a funny thing. It can exhilarate you, it can cause anxiety, and it can make you sad—all in one fell swoop. There are more positive outcomes in this case than negative, thankfully, but it’s still been a lot to deal with. What’s been most interesting is the upheaval of my daily routine. After twelve years, you kind of get into a pattern of things, and then when that changes in a significant way, you discover you’ve got to figure things out all over again. I’m struggling with that a bit.

It’s definitely a first-world problem. Don’t get me wrong—I’m not actually complaining about it. It’s just an observation of things as they are. It is a ā€œproblemā€ to be solved, however. Things will settle, as they do, and I’ll find myself in a new pattern over time. I just need to be patient—but I can also attempt to determine what I want that pattern to be.
